The standards of attractiveness for women vary by country and culture, I believe. What body types or features are popular also depend on the region and individual values.
I haven't been there, but apparently in overseas countries like America and Europe, healthy body types are valued, and being overly thin is not favored. Instead, having moderate muscle tone and a flexible, healthy body type seems to be considered attractive.
Recently, the body positivity movement has spread, and diverse values regarding body types have started to be recognized, according to a gym instructor I know.
Efforts are being made to eliminate bias against being overweight, and even among models and celebrities, there are those with fuller figures emerging.
However, in Japan, especially for women, slim and clean-looking petite women seem to be popular… or so it seems. Combined with the recent K-pop boom, there are women who diligently engage in extreme dieting or wear corsets at a young age to create waistlines… they really work hard.
Men don't seem to demand these things as much, I think. Nowadays, society is labeled as lookism.
Being from the Showa era, I want to shout that inner qualities are important. Men will end up marrying due to social contracts with women who feel comfortable to hug and have a maternal aura, even if they're slightly unattractive.
Even the men around me, when researched, say that while beautiful or slender women are ideal, if given a choice, they prefer women with some meat on their bones, laughing lewdly. There's a sad moment of mismatch between supply and demand.
The old guys who keep saying 'skinny with big breasts sells' seem to genuinely like women like this in moments within this work.
